Roland A. Martin II
Principal - Martin Construction Advisors, LLC
With 25 years of construction management experience, Roland Martin serves as the principal of Martin Construction Advisors, LLC as well as President of Cornerstone Construction Company, LLC.
Roland began his construction career with Pro Con, Inc. of Hooksett, NH in 1985 where he served as a Project Manager and Cost Estimator. His work experience varied between commercial, medical and industrial projects for over ten years. During that same period, he provided his company and clients with both project management and cost estimating services on the vast majority of construction projects. Notable projects during that time period included a new 120,000sf headquarters for an international bank and a 100,000sf building renovation for a regional bank headquarters in Hooksett, NH, a new 45,000sf corporate headquarters for Unitil Services Corp. in Hampton, NH, a new 80,000sf facility for SCI Systems in Hooksett, NH, several medical specialty units for Integrated Health Services, a 40 unit elderly housing project in Seabrook, NH, an $18mm Marriott hotel project in Bethlehem, PA, a new Shaw’s supermarket in Keene, NH and the $30mm Warren B. Rudman United States Courthouse in Concord, NH.
In 1997, Roland accepted the position of Vice President of Operations and later, Chief Operating Officer at Kelly Construction Co., Inc. of Manchester, NH. During his four year tenure at Kelly, he initiated and completed an entire reorganization and automation of the firm. Additionally, he provided cost estimating and project management services to a host of clients during the same period. Notable projects included the new 96 room Best Western Executive Court Inn in Manchester, NH, a new 20,000sf facility for Antics Grill and Games in Manchester, NH, a new corporate headquarters for Riverstone Resources LLC/International Insurance (100,000sf mill renovation), a new 10,000sf cardiac center for Elliot Hospital and a new $3.2mm ice hockey facility in Hooksett, NH.
Roland departed Kelly in 2001 and formed Cornerstone Construction Company LLC. For over five years, Roland served as President and manager of Cornerstone, overseeing growth during each year in business. Notable projects include a new 13,000sf facility for River Road Pediatrics in Bedford, NH, Central Paper Product’s 95,000sf expansion and building renovation project in Manchester, NH, a new 20,000sf Child Daycare Center, MRI facility, CT Expansion and Pain Management Center – all for Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH and Hampshire First Bank’s new headquarters in Manchester.
In February of 2007, Roland completed a merger between Cornerstone Construction and Pro Con, Inc. Returning to Pro Con, he served as a Senior Vice President and Project Executive, providing cost estimating services and management oversight for a host of clients, including NYLO Hotels, Newport Hotel Group and Unitil Services Corp.
In March of 2009 after leaving Pro Con, Roland formed Martin Construction Advisors, LLC and completed the repurchase of Cornerstone Construction Company, LLC.
Roland is a long time member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and an affiliate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He has been active in Associated General Contractors (AGC) as well as Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). His numerous community activities have included serving as a coach, board member and three-term President of Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association, Easter Seals, United Way, Trout Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. Roland is also the founder of "Carver's for Kids", an organization dedicated to bringing winter sports enthusiasts together to raise money to support young cancer treatment patients.
Roland is a member of the Union Leader's "40 Under 40" class of 2005 which recognized him for his significant influence in the State of New Hampshire as a result of his professional, personal and civic accomplishments.
In 1999, two of Roland’s projects won Excellence in Construction Awards from the New Hampshire and Vermont chapter of ABC. The new headquarters for International Insurance Company in Manchester’s Waumbec Mill building received an Award of Merit for Historical Restorations and an Award of Excellence for a Specialty Trade, while the new Best Western Executive Court Inn in Manchester received an Award of Merit for commercial projects over $2mm.
